Engage Scotland, Creative Scotland and the Scottish Government have commissioned Queen Margaret University to undertake research into Visual Art and Design Education in Scotland. This research seeks to identify best practice and barriers to develop new approaches that support schools, teachers and pupils to engage more confidently with contemporary visual arts and design.

Feedback from teachers, professional artists, arts organisations/galleries around Scotland will be crucial: please circulate this survey with colleagues and contacts and encourage them to contribute their perspectives. The objective is to provide a detailed picture of the current landscape of visual art and design education in Scotland, including where schools are engaging effectively with galleries, artists and visual arts organisations.

As original research to map visual art and design education in Scotland, it is expected to make a valuable contribution to how the sector is supported and celebrated, and the findings will be published and shared widely.

It will take approximately 20 – 30 minutes to complete the survey which is accessible at: https://qmu.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/mapping-visual-art-and-design-education-in-scotland-2

The survey is live now and will be open until 30 June 2021.
