The Northern Alliance is pleased to be playing a key role in the delivery of the National e-Learning Offer. We hope you are enjoying Lockdown Live from e-Sgoil – the e-learning school based in Eilean Siar (Western Isles), which is a key part of the regional improvement collaborative’s Sustaining Education in our Communities workstream.
If you haven’t yet explored Lockdown Live, please visit: www.e-sgoil.com/lockdown-live/ and share appropriate opportunities with your learners. This is publicly accessible and it would be helpful if you can raise awareness among staff, parents and young people if not already.
Do you follow us on Twitter? You can keep up to date with Northern Alliance news and collaboration opportunities via @NAllianceScot and get a heads up on Lockdown Live sessions by following @eSgoil
A number of teachers and practitioners from across the eight local authorities which make up the Northern Alliance are now contributing to various aspects of the National e-Learning Offer, including live as well as recorded lessons. Thank you.
We’ve created a short clip to help explain all elements of the National e-Learning Offer and how you can access them:
The recorded aspect of the National e-Learning Offer is being hosted and coordinated by West OS. West OS is an online library of recorded learning episodes created by Scottish teachers which can be prescribed by teachers to complement the learning experiences planned for remote learning.
This provides high quality recorded lessons to support learners, support lesson planning and reduce staff workload, and it is being added to all the time. Please have a look at new additions this week. We would also like to ask for your help in raising awareness of the West OS recorded lessons among learners as well as teachers and practitioners.
It is accessible via Glow and we would ask that the West OS tile is added to your school launch pad for ease of access. Although parents cannot directly access West OS within Glow themselves, you may wish to raise awareness of this resource with them to encourage their children to interact with it at home to support their learning.
The third aspect of the National e-Learning Offer is a website full of resources which has been compiled by Education Scotland. Visit: https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/glowblogs/nationalelearning/ or for a reminder about all of the national resources designed to support you at this time, visit Education Scotland’s website.
If you would like to work with colleagues from our Northern Alliance core team, please feel free to get in touch: https://northernalliance.scot/contact Any questions relating to the West OS recorded lessons should be directed to Fern.Robertson@eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk or speak to your local authority Glow contact.
