If you are one of more than 170 colleagues from across the Northern Alliance who took part in the recent Northern Alliance Primary Maths and National 5 Maths conferences, lucky you. Event feedback was exceptional, with 100% of delegates rating both the format and content of the conferences as ‘very good’ or ‘excellent’. You can access Primary resources from the conference as well as National 5 resources via the maths SharePoint page too.
We are now looking forward to collaborating with practitioners across both sectors on what will be a very exciting improvement project, designed to provide robust measures of impact upon professional practice. More details to follow soon.
The Northern Alliance / Education Scotland numeracy and maths partnership continues to work alongside local authorities to add value to INSET programmes. We are building relational capital through the strengthening of trust and connections, and will continue to offer a range of digital CLPL opportunities to support improvements in learning, teaching and assessment.
With the 2021 exam diet cancelled, work has been progressing quickly to support teachers in the senior phase. Two subgroups have created full course assessments for both N5 Maths and N5 Applications of Maths. A full Advanced Higher assessment will be available shortly, with a short life working group about to commence developments around Higher Maths. Aligned to national standards, these assessments will provide a viable, valuable and valid additional support to teachers throughout the Northern Alliance.
Our numeracy and maths workstream also continues to support e-Sgoil through the delivery of evening Higher Maths webinars. In addition, we are delighted to now offer a daytime webinar and two Higher masterclasses.
