In addition to our Primary School Support Group, we are now reaching out to colleagues in secondary schools who would like to collaborate and support each other, with a particular focus on curricular support groups and building links across our Regional Improvement Collaborative.

This work is being led by Craig Paterson who has joined the Northern Alliance as workstream lead for Secondary BGE/Senior Phase. Craig joins us from his substantive post of Depute Head Teacher at Inverurie Academy in Aberdeenshire.

He said: “I would like to create opportunities for secondary school teachers to share their thinking and best practice and overcome particular challenges. A focal point for this at the moment is a new Team space which I’d encourage anyone who works in secondary education to engage with.”

This workstream aims to:

  • Develop curriculum-specific supports and CLPL for key curricular areas.
  • Develop specific supports for Head Teachers in developing their curriculum rationales for the BGE and Senior Phase.
  • Develop and share practice in relation to the development of skills for learning, life and work, linked to DYW.
  • Developing digital approaches to curriculum delivery.

Contact Craig by emailing craig.paterson@aberdeenshire.gov.uk or join the conversation with colleagues across the Northern Alliance and Education Scotland in the new Northern Alliance Secondary School Support Group in Teams within Glow.
